DOHA – The Qatari Trademark Office officially declared that all trademark applications must comply with the 11th edition of the Nice Classification when listing goods and services. Furthermore, applicants can no longer rely on class headings or claim all goods and services within a class. This adjustment is in line with GCC Law No. 7/2014 and applies to both newly submitted applications and those currently under examination.

Under this revised procedure, applicants are required to specify goods and services strictly according to the terms and classes outlined in the 11th edition of the Nice Classification. The change aligns with the GCC Law’s goal of standardizing intellectual property practices across member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
